Travertine Classic Reference Project: Kölcsey Convention Center in Hungary

Kölcsey Convention Center is the second greatest cultural center in Hungary in terms of size and quality. It is also an international reference for the Travertine Classic.

Built to be a high-technological multifunctional house, the Kölcsey Convention Center features around 13000m2 of usable space with complete support for all types of broadcasting, including simultaneous translation and editing/mixing systems. The building complex is composed by a main hall, eight separate section halls, several professional conference rooms, meeting rooms for cultural events and an underground parking with 300 slots.

The whole center has been built with mostly one natural stone, the Travertine Classic. The exterior cladding and wall coverings were done with Travertine Classic cross-cut slabs and panels. The same techniques were used in the interior of the center but this time for flooring and wall covers. The complex was also built with high quantities of wood (birch, maple and okume) and glass.

The Kölcsey Convention Center was completed on February 2006 with a clear recreation of the Scandinavian atmosphere with plentiful of light coming through the enormous glass windows, while the wood and Travertine Classic coverings reflect the brilliance and responsiveness of the activities held in the complex.
